Marble care in Bugis
Bugis has new condos around Beach Road and Fraser Street, plus HDB flats at Bras Basah Complex and nearby Waterloo Street. Bugis mixes brand-new condos with HDB flats from the 1960s to 1980s. New units need defect checks and early sealing; older flats often have marble from past renovations ready for grinding and polishing.
Local tip: Moving into an older flat? Polish the marble before the furniture arrives. It is faster and cheaper on an empty floor.

About Bugis
Bugis takes its name from the Bugis seafarers of Sulawesi who traded and settled near the Rochor and Kallang rivers in the early 19th century.
Bugis MRT opened in 1987 and Bugis Junction, with its glass-covered shophouse streets, in 1995. Bras Basah Complex, the HDB "city of books", was completed in 1980. Duo Residences (2017), Midtown Bay and Midtown Modern have since brought new homes.
Landmarks

- Bras Basah Complex – 1980 HDB block with shops below, known as the city of books.
