Marble Polishing FAQ
Answers to the questions Singapore homeowners and building managers ask us most.

All questions
Which areas do you cover?
All of Singapore, with a focus on the Downtown Core: Marina Bay, Bayfront, Clifford Pier, Marina Centre, Raffles Place, Phillip Street, Cecil Street, Maxwell, Tanjong Pagar, Anson, City Hall, Bugis and Nicoll, plus nearby HDB estates in Tanjong Pagar, Chinatown and Bugis.
How much is marble polishing in Singapore?
Marble floor polishing starts from $1/sq ft: a living or dining room from $350 and a whole condo unit from $1,000. Sealing only from $0.60/sq ft. Minimum job charge $350 ($250 for sealing only). Spot repairs are quoted from photos.
How long does it take?
Most condo units and 3- to 4-room flats take 1 day. Spot repairs and vanity tops take 1 to 3 hours. Office and hotel lobbies are done overnight in sections.
Is it messy or dusty?
We use a wet process that keeps dust very low, and cover furniture, cabinets and doors before starting.
Can you tell if my floor is real marble?
Yes. Send a close-up photo. Porcelain and marble-look tiles need a different treatment, and we will tell you before you book.
Do you work in offices and hotels?
Yes. We polish and maintain marble lobbies, lift halls, washrooms and retail floors, usually after hours, with method statements and insurance documents for management.
Do you give a warranty?
Yes, 90 days on workmanship.
What does marble floor polishing include?
Protection of walls and cabinets, diamond honing in stages, a final polish to the finish you choose, sealing, clean-up and an inspection together.
What may cost extra?
Heavy grinding for uneven tiles, deep stain removal, chip and crack filling, regrouting or tile replacement, furniture moving on larger jobs, after-hours commercial work, and difficult access such as no service lift.
Is there a minimum charge?
Yes: $350 per job for polishing and $250 for sealing only. Combining several areas or a bathroom with the floor in one visit is better value.
Why do some companies quote much less?
Very low quotes are often for a crystallisation spray or wax coating only, which doesn't remove scratches or etching. Ask what grits will be used.
Is there a transport charge?
No, not within the Downtown Core and CBD. Other parts of Singapore are quoted with the job.
How do I pay?
PayNow or bank transfer after the job is finished and you've inspected it. Commercial clients can be invoiced.
How much does marble polishing cost in Singapore?
Marble floor polishing starts from $1/sq ft. A living or dining room of about 250 sq ft is from $350, and a whole condo unit of about 1,000 sq ft from $1,000. Minimum job charge $350 ($250 for sealing only). We confirm the price on WhatsApp before we start.
How long does marble polishing take?
Most 2- to 3-bedroom condo units and 3- to 4-room flats are done in 1 day. Large penthouses, landed homes and office lobbies take 2 to 3 days.
Is marble polishing dusty?
We use wet polishing, which keeps dust very low. There is slurry, which we contain and clean up, and we cover furniture, cabinets and doors before starting.
Can I walk on the floor after polishing?
Yes, you can walk on it the same day in socks or clean slippers. If sealer is applied, wait a few hours before mopping and 24 hours before putting rugs back.
How often should marble be polished?
Usually every 3 to 5 years, with a lighter shine refresh every 1 to 2 years in busy areas.
Do you polish crazy-paving marble in HDB flats?
Yes. It is one of the most common floors we restore in older Singapore flats. It usually needs grinding first because the pieces are uneven.
Can you remove uneven tile edges (lippage)?
Yes. Grinding flattens raised tile edges so the floor feels smooth and reflects evenly.
Do I need to move out?
No. Most families stay in. We work room by room and keep one area usable when possible.
How much is marble floor polishing for a 4-room flat?
It depends on the marble area and condition. Polishing starts from $1/sq ft, a living or dining room from $350, and about 1,000 sq ft from $1,000. Send us photos or your floor plan for a fixed price.
Will polishing make my floor slippery?
A high-gloss floor is as slippery as a new marble floor when wet. If slip resistance matters, ask for a satin or honed finish.
Can a chipped marble tile be repaired without replacing it?
Yes. Most chips are filled with colour-matched resin and polished to blend in.
Will the repair be visible?
Small repairs are usually very hard to spot. Large cracks through strong veining may still show a faint line, which we will tell you before starting.
Do you repair marble countertops and vanity tops?
Yes. Chips and cracks on vanity tops and table tops are repaired the same way.
Why does my marble tile sound hollow?
The adhesive or mortar below has lost contact. We can inject the void or reset the tile, depending on size.
Can all marble stains be removed?
Most can be removed or greatly lightened. Very old rust and some dye stains may not disappear completely; we will tell you honestly after testing.
Can I use bleach on a marble stain?
Diluted hydrogen peroxide can help with some organic stains on light marble, but bleach and acid cleaners can damage marble. Ask us first.
Is a stain the same as an etch?
No. A stain is darker because something soaked in. An etch is a dull spot where acid ate the surface. They need different treatments.
Will sealing stop stains?
A good impregnating sealer slows absorption and gives you time to wipe spills, but it does not make marble stain-proof.
Can etch marks on marble be removed?
Yes. Light etches polish out; deeper ones are honed and then polished.
Why did my marble get dull after cleaning?
Many household cleaners, including vinegar, lemon-based and some bathroom cleaners, are acidic and etch marble.
How do I tell an etch from a stain?
An etch is lighter and dull. A stain is darker or coloured. Some marks, like red wine, are both.
Does sealer stop etching?
No. Sealer helps against stains, not acid etching.
Can red wine stains be removed from marble?
Usually yes, especially if treated within weeks. We remove the colour with a poultice and polish out the etch.
Why is there a dull ring as well as a stain?
Wine is acidic. The acid etches the surface while the colour soaks in.
Do you restore marble dining tables?
Yes, on site. Tables, islands and bar tops are done the same way.
Is it the same for coffee and juice?
Similar. Coffee mostly stains; juices and soft drinks mostly etch.
Can you make my marble bathroom floor less slippery?
Yes. Honing to a matt or satin finish increases grip compared with a high gloss. We can also advise on anti-slip treatments.
How long is the bathroom out of use?
About 4 to 6 hours. If you have only one bathroom, we schedule around your family.
Do you also clean the grout?
Yes. Grout is cleaned as part of the job; badly cracked or mouldy grout can be regrouted.
Which cleaner is safe for bathroom marble?
A pH-neutral stone cleaner. Avoid vinegar, toilet bowl cleaner, bleach and limescale removers on marble.
Do you need to remove the basin to polish the top?
No. We polish around the basin and taps on site.
Can you polish kitchen marble countertops too?
Yes. Kitchen tops, islands and dining tables are polished the same way.
How long before I can use the sink?
Usually right after we finish. If sealer is applied, avoid water on the top for about an hour.
Can you fix a chipped vanity top edge?
Yes, with colour-matched resin, then polished.
Can marble bathroom walls be polished?
Yes, using hand machines and pads made for vertical stone.
Will you replace silicone too?
Yes, on request. Old, mouldy silicone is cut out and renewed.
How long does a full bathroom restoration take?
About 1 day per bathroom, including drying time.
Is it cheaper than renovating?
Much cheaper, and with no hacking, debris or long downtime.
How much does marble regrouting cost?
Regrouting is quoted from photos, because it depends on joint width, grout type and area. Send photos of the grout lines for a price, usually the same day.
Can you regrout without damaging marble?
Yes. We use oscillating and hand tools, not grinders that chip edges, and never acid to clean haze.
Epoxy or cement grout for my shower?
Epoxy is more water and stain resistant; cement is easier to colour-match. We will recommend based on your bathroom.
Should I regrout before polishing?
Yes, so the polish and sealer cover the finished joints.
Can you polish our lobby at night?
Yes. Most commercial jobs in the CBD are done after hours or on weekends so the building stays open.
Do you provide a method statement and insurance?
Yes. We provide a method statement, risk assessment and insurance documents for management approval before work starts.
Do you offer maintenance contracts?
Yes. Monthly or quarterly shine visits keep lobby marble consistent and cost less than repeated full restoration.
Do you work on shophouses?
Yes, including entrance floors, staircases and ground-floor marble in conservation shophouses.
