About Tanjong Pagar
"Tanjong Pagar" is Malay for "cape of stakes", believed to refer to stakes set along the old shoreline. The area grew around the 19th-century docks and the shophouses of Tanjong Pagar Road and Duxton.
Tanjong Pagar MRT opened in 1987. Tanjong Pagar Centre, with Guoco Tower and Wallich Residence, was completed in 2016, and Shenton Way MRT opened in 2022.
